The students of Studium Witte de With’s Parallel Curriculum invite you to the upcoming Microfunding Dinner event on Friday 29 March 2019 from 6 to 8 pm. Attendees are asked to RSVP to [email protected] until Monday 25 March 2019.

The Microfund Dinner is a microfunding initiative that provides an alternative funding system for creative projects. Guests are asked to make a small contribution (€8 min. suggested) in exchange for dinner and a ballot. During the dinner, guests become jurors: three select individuals will pitch their creative project during the dinner and all guests will vote for a project. The winning project will receive the funds raised from the dinner fees. A special vegan meal with drinks will be prepared and served by Parallel Curriculum students.

Unlike traditional funding systems, the Microfund Dinner offers a non-bureaucratic, rapid, and experimental system for funding creative projects. Through the process of a communal meal and collective decision-making, attendees determine how projects are evaluated and awarded, opening up to the public the question of how we value art. The dinner opens up the chance to experience art not as spectator but as jury.

Parallel Curriculum

Studium Witte de With’s Parallel Curriculum is a peer-led education initiative by Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art. Each year, a select group of students collaborate across academic and creative disciplines to bridge different fields of knowledge in higher education, culminating the programming of student-led events. The Class of ’19 includes: Maud Berden (Piet Zwart Institute), Rosa Elk (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam), Sander Hintzen (Stockholms Universitet), Jasmijn Linden (Willem de Kooning Academie), Salvador Miranda (Piet Zwart Institute), and Adam Patterson (Piet Zwart Institute). The Microfund Dinner is led by Salvador Miranda.

This is the second of two events organized by the students of Parallel Curriculum on the same day, see WORKSHOP: Corresponding Racial Identity for the afternoon program.
