ARTIKULATIE

Exploring the subject of  the human voice, Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art embarks on a partnership with DE PLAYER, a Rotterdam-based platform for polymorphic music and performance production.

ARTIKULATIE is a performance by vocal ensemble Maulwerker (Berlin). It is produced by DE PLAYER and Operadagen Rotterdam and staged at Witte de With on June 1st and 3rd 2012. This performance is the first event in a series of collaborations between Witte de With and DE PLAYER.

The Maulwerker ensemble was founded in 1977. In addition to the classics of new (vocal) music and experimental music theater, the Maulwerker repertoire focuses on more recent trends, and therefore on active collaboration with composers, radio dramatists, sound artists and directors, as well as on works created by members of the ensemble itself.

About the collaborators
DE PLAYERDE PLAYER is a polymorphic production platform in Rotterdam, which has been putting together programs on the cutting edge of performance art, experimental music and the visual arts. It emphasizes the importance of sound, and the performance and positioning of sound within the visual arts and contemporary experimental music.www.deplayer.nl

Opera Rotterdam* is de naam van dat samenwerkingsverband van acht Rotterdamse kunsteninstellingen dat uiteindelijk Operadagen Rotterdam, een hedendaags opera- en muziektheaterfestival, heeft geïnitieerd.
