Since its inception, the center has developed a curatorial position devoted to the production of publications, with each Director putting their mark on their program. Our attitude is that books constitute a unique medium distinct from exhibitions and events; they travel easily and have a lasting quality, becoming archives documenting and expanding the activity of writers, artists, curators, designers, editors, and readers alike. Publications of Witte de With Publishers range from exhibition catalogues to artists’ books and editions, readers and symposia proceedings to single essays in translation.
Building on its long history of framing and instigating debate, Witte de With also publishes WdW Review (since 2013), an online platform aimed at informing our ever-expanding spheres of action in an age of constant reformations be they aesthetic, geographic, economic, communal, ecological, and even spiritual.
The publications of Witte de With Publishers are distributed worldwide by D.A.P. (Distributed Art Publishers Inc.), Cornerhouse, and Idea Books. Annually, Witte de With Publishers participates in a selection of international book fairs, such as the New York Art Book Fair, the Vancouver Art Book Fair, and the Friends With Books Art Book Fair in Berlin amongst others.
