Ulla von Brandenburg (1974, Karlsruhe, Germany) is a Paris-based artist. Her work – drawings, installations, film, performance – creates multi-layered narratives that explore the gap between fiction and reality and investigate contemporary collective experience. Recurring themes in her work source from expressionist theatre, literature, pre-Freudian psychoanalysis and early cinema.

A selection of her recent solo exhibitions include Innen ist nicht Außen, Secession (Vienna, 2013); Kunstpreis Finkenwerder, Kunsthaus Hamburg (Hamburg, 2013); Gleich Gleich Gleich, Kiosk (Ghent, 2013); Mirrorsong, Pilar Corrias, (London, 2012); Neue Alte Welt, Art: Concept (Paris, 2010); Whose beginning is not, nor end cannot be, Irish Museum of Modern Art (Dublin, 2008). Selected group exhibitions include WIELS, Contemporary Art Centre (Brussels, 2013); 1966-1979, Institut d’art contemporain (Villeurbanne, 2013); Tools for Conviviality, The Power Plant (Toronto, 2012) and Made in Germany Zwei: International Art In Germany, Kunstverein Hannover (Hannover, 2012).
