Frances Horn

Frances Horn was initially trained as a photographer, and now assists the artist book world thru various guises. She has been working with numerous art institutions, galleries, record labels, cultural organisations et al since 1992 in the UK, Europe, the US and Mexico and finds the task of artist book distribution via viable platforms to be her main motivation. In 2009 she initiated the fair PA/PER VIEW at WIELS in Brussels, which saw 11 successful editions including several satellite fairs in Europe and Mexico. Frances has initiated and been involved in co-organising several other artist book platforms such as INDEX at MAZ and JUMEX, Vernacular at Proyectos Monclova and Galeria Karen Huber in Mexico, and Acid Free at Blum and Poe in Los Angeles. (These book initiatives have gravitated between book fairs, events at institutions or exhibition spaces, and instances at other commercial and not for profit spaces.) She has recently launched MOVEABLE TYPES as a banner in which to present remarkable published material, which has been arguably underexposed. This initiative was launched at the Marian Goodman Librairie in Paris, took the form of a fair during ALAC in Los Angeles, and then a talk and launch of a single artist’s book in Mexico City.
