This book is the first part of the catalogue being published on the occasion of the exhibition TRACER. It is an introduction to the exhibition and an overview of the project proposals by the six guest curators.
Part two appeared in December 2004, documenting the realized projects.

Is the heart of Rotterdam’s art world beating in the right place and to the right rhythm? TRACER is an exhibition project by TENT. in association with Witte de With to celebrate the five-year anniversary of TENT. For the exhibition TRACER, six people active on the international art scene were invited to temporarily turn the spotlight on contemporary art in Rotterdam and reveal the state of affairs. Andreas Broeckmann, Ritsaert ten Cate, Annie Fletcher, Thomas Michelon, Pelin Tan and waanja have responded to this in the form of exhibitions, symposia, music, film and video programs.
