Type: film workshop Date: February 9, 2010 - February 11, 2010 Location: WORM.filmwerkplaats, Achterhaven 148, Rotterdam
In collaboration with Witte de With, WORM.filmwerkplaats is organizing a workshop led by artist and film-maker Deborah Stratman, titled The Moral Lens, from 9 to 11 February.
The main focus of the workshop is the (experimental) world of D.I.Y. 16mm film-making. The aim of the 3-day workshop is to produce a short 16mm film. This means you will take the camera in your own hands to shoot a film, before developing and editing the results. After the workshop, the possibility exists to continue to work on your film, using the space and the equipment of the WORM filmlab/werkplaats.
This workshop is open to artists, film-makers and art students, and there is space for six participants. For those inexperienced with 16mm film, a short introduction course will be given in the week before the workshop.

About the artist
Film-maker Deborah Stratman works in a territory between experimental and documentary genres. Her films, rather than telling stories, pose a series of problems. Many of her films point to the relationships between physical environments and the very human struggles for power, ownership, mastery and control that are played out on the land. Her recent work addresses American constructs of Freedom, the junction between technology and faith and contemporary locations of the supernatural. Stratman teaches in the School of Art & Design at the University of Illinois in Chicago. For a full filmography and additional information, see her website: www.pythagorasfilm.com
