Biography Carolyn Steinbeck (Germany, 1967)
Carolyn Steinbeck studied communication design at the College of Higher Education in Darmstadt. She was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship that enabled her to study at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Blomfield Hills, Michigan, USA, leading to a Master of Fine Arts degree. Steinbeck has been working from Berlin since 1999, and since 2002 she has been working together with Lukas Einsele on the project and book design for One Step Beyond. She has been awarded a bursary to work at Akademie Schloss Solitude, Stuttgart, in 2005.
In his project One Step Beyond (OSB), www.one-step-beyond.de, Lukas Einsele has been researching the worldwide phenomenon of the landmine, its victims and its relation with the social and physical environment.
