Elias Khoury

Biography Elias Khoury (Beirut, Lebanon, 1948)
Elias Khoury is editor and director of Mullak (the weekly literary supplement of the daily newspaper An-Nahar) and co-director of the Ayloul Festival in Beirut. He is also professor of Arabic and Comparative Literature at the American University of Beirut, the Columbia University and the New York University, and he was the artistic director of the Theater of Beirut between 1992 and 1998. He has published eleven novels (some of which have been translated into French, English, German and Italian), his most recent being Bab al Chams (Beirut: Dar al-Adad, 1998). He has written two plays and created a performance (Three Posters, with Rabih MrouƩ) which have been staged in Beirut, Cairo, Paris, Vienna, Basel, Barcelona, Brussels and Berlin.
