Untitled2005 ?Everyone is an artist,? proclaimed Joseph Beuys in the 1960s and 1970s. Tiravanija adds his own variation: ?Everyone is a TV maker. Make this channel at home!? The airwaves, which carry transmissions, are technically government property. The film chosen by Tiravanija to broadcast on his ?illegal? personal transmitter was Peter Watkins' Punishment Park (1971), a docudrama about the brutal silencing of anti-war protesters during the Vietnam war. Buddhism informs Rirkrit Tiravanija's attitude to art: art is a process that makes interesting interactions happen. He has also been described as a potlatch-conceptualist.
