Beirut is a Magnificent City. Synoptic Pictures by Paola Yacoub / Michel Lasserre

Efrat Shvily's New Homes in Israel and the Occupied Territories is a series of black-and-white photographs of houses and neighbourhoods made between 1992 and 1998. The series arose in reaction to the large number of new settlements that were realized in Israel in the 1990s, as a means to occupy territory.

Yacoub/Lasserre's Beirut is a Magnificent City. Synoptic Pictures is produced by Fundacio Antoni Tàpies, Barcelona, as part of the Contemporary Arab Represenations series of publications.
In this book Yacoub / Lasserre focus on "the expressiveness of territories" and their aesthetical and political implications in Lebanon today.
