Willem Schinkel is professor of social theory at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He is a member of the Young Academy of the Royal Dutch Academy of Arts and Sciences. His interests are in the fields of social theory, political philosophy, and the sociology of art. He currently heads a five-year research project, funded by the European Research Council, which investigates practices of social imagination in the fields of migration, finance, and climate change.
