Biography Richard T. Walker (Shropshire, UK, 1977)
Richard T. Walker’s films, photographic works and performances take solitude, human nature and dialogue as their subjects. Focusing on the experience of our surrounding environments, these works highlight clashes between innate desire, cultural interpretation and reality. Walker’s work is a constant enquiry into the disparity between our thoughts of “somewhere” and what actually happens “somewhere”. In their transient nature, the films become almost behavioral studies of the act of experiencing. Recent group exhibitions include I want to want you like I wanted to want you, David Cunningham Projects, San Francisco (2008); Sometimes I like you more than othertimes, Iceberger Gallery, San Francisco (2007); Every note that I play gets me two chords closer to you (performance) Galeria dels Angels, Barcelona (2006); I‘ll be lost when I find you, Galeria Dels Angels, Barcelona (2006); and Pixapins, (screening and music performance) PhotoEspana 06, Plaza Santa Ana, Madrid (2006). Richard T walker received an MA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths College, London (2005) and is currently living in San Francisco. He was the recipient of the 2007 fellowship at Kala Art Institute in Berkeley California and is currently an Affiliate Artist at Headlands Centre for the Arts in Sausalito California.
