Philip Aarons

Philip Aarons (b. 1951, U.S.A.) received a Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Art History in 1973 from Columbia University. Although, trained as a lawyer and making a living as a real estate developer, Aarons has extensive involvement in the world of contemporary art and artists’ books. He is one of the editors of In Numbers, Serial Publications by Artists Since 1955 (Edited by Philip E. Aarons and Andrew Roth, JPRingier, 2012), and of Queer Zines (Edited by AA Bronson and Philip Aarons, Printed Matter, 2008). Aarons has also contributed essays to the following publications, The Open Book by Andrew Roth, Terence Koh (Whitney Museum of American Art) by Shamim M. Momim, Beatrix Ruf and Jules Aarons – Photographs of Paris 1953-1968 catalog. He is active in a variety of cultural and civic organizations serving on the following boards: Friends of the High Line (Founding Board Chair), Creative Time (Chair of the Executive Committee), MoMA PS1 (Vice Chair), Printed Matter (Board President), MoMA Library Council, Public Design Commission of the City of New York and Ballet Tech. He is married to Shelley Fox Aarons, a retired psychiatrist.
