Johan Zetterquist

Johan Zetterquist (b. 1968, Sweden) lives and works in Stockholm and Berlin. His work cannot be captured at a specific scale as he zooms in and out of dimensions. He has a dedicated interest in ecological issues, on both a political and a systematic level. Being trained as a designer (Hovedskou Artschool, Gothenburg, Sweden 1988-1989; Valand Academy of Fine Arts, Gothenburg, Sweden 1989-1994), Zetterquist has an understanding for cultural realities, economical possibilities and philosophical analogies. His major drive is curiosity, and another is sheer optimism and conviction that we do have the ability to create an ecologically-centered society.

His selected solo exhibitions include Studies For A Monument, Invaliden1, Berlin, Germany (2010); Jönköpings Konstmuseum, Jönköping, Sweden (2008); Kristinehamns konstmuseum, Kristinehamn, Sweden (2007); Take Me Off the Endangered Species List, Andréhn-Schiptjenko, Stockholm, Sweden (2007). He has also participated in group exhibitions around the world including Momentum 7, Momentum Konsthall, Moss, Norway (2013); Konst är dyrbarare än korv – 50 år av populärkuturell voodoo i svensk konst, Varbergs konsthall, Varberg, Sweden (2012); Yngligagatan 1, Moderna museet, Stockholm, Sweden (2011); Nordic Art Today: Conceptual Debts, Broken Dreams and New Horizons, curated by Power Ekroth, Saint Petersburg, Russia (2011).
