Hai’er Zhang

Zhang Hai’er (b. 1957, China) is a photographer lives and works between Guangzhou and Paris. He began his artistic career in 1978 as a student of stage design at the Shanghai Drama Institute, and had been an art director and set designer for the Guangdong Television Network, before deciding to continue his education in photography at the Guangzhou College of Fine Arts.

Zhang Haier’s signature combination of flash and slow shutter speed result in blur and trail of light, giving the images depth and a sense of the passage of time. In 1988 Zhang Hai’er was invited to participate in the prestigious Arles Photography Festival in France.
