Lives and works in Berlin. Berendes studied at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste, München, the Hochschule der Künste, Berlin and most recently at Chelsea College of Art and Design, London (2001-2002). She is the recipient of the following grants and residencies Art Scope, Tokyo, Daimler Foundation Japan (2009); Pollock- Krasner Foundation grant (2008-2009); Else-Heiliger- Fonds (2006-2007); DAAD (2001-2002).
