Witte de With invites you to attend the opening of the ArtVIPs exhibition! After the series of masterclasses, the ArtVIPs will show the results at Witte de With, from 26 May through June 3, 2007.

The opening is on Friday May 25, from 4.00 to 6.30 p.m.

What is art? Who says so? What makes art interesting, boring, beautiful or not? Why and how does art come into existence? Who is involved? What does an art institution do? How does one assemble an exhibition? Who defines art? How does an artist work?

Twelve ArtVIPs tried to find the answers to these and other questions. In collaboration with the ArtVIPs, Witte de With proudly presents their experiences in an exhibition.

What is ArtVIPs?

A series of ten masterclasses about contemporary art. Over the past three months, the ArtVIPs worked with artists, photographers and writers, met with curators, and had a look behind the scenes in several museums and art galleries. Meanwhile, they documented and reflected upon their experiences in the form of photographs, video recordings and texts. The ArtVIPs now present a selection of this material in the exhibition.
