There is hotchpotch of mashed potatoes and endives, fusilli carbonara, lasagna bolognese, shoarma, and salmon with tagliatelle. The cooking times range from six to eight minutes. In other words, the technology of the food industry is trying to keep pace with the tumultuous developments in the field of television. However, in both instances, ultimately it is not about the titles and the packaging, but about the content and the flavor.

From Friday, January 27 through Friday, February 3, Mieke van der Linden and a prominent guest from the festival will pass judgment on this every evening, with the guest presenting and explaining his or her television tastes. For example, film and television director (Ja Zuster, Nee Zuster, Hertenkamp) and theater director Pieter Kramer presents his favorite scenes from soap operas. British artist Phil Collinsconfesses to his love of game shows and telemarketing, while his Rotterdam colleague Erik van Lieshout wants to keep his viewing habits secret for as long as possible …

In short, each day brings new images and new texts that can be enjoyed with your plate on your lap, sitting on the specially realized test-card sofas in the big television lounge at Witte de With/TENT.
The meals are available from 6:00 p.m. and cost EUR 5.00 including a soft drink. The talk show starts at 6:30 p.m. The latest program details with the guest of the day will be posted at www.explodingtelevision.net and published daily in the festival newspaper. There is ice cream for dessert.

TV dinners will also be served during the opening of Exploding Television/Satellite of Love, but will then be accompanied by a mix of famous video clips with surprising new sounds under the title Bastard Pop, specially compiled by the pop connoisseur and program maker David Kleywegt. The opening starts at 6:00 p.m.
