Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art is proud to present the preview of The Ten Murders of Josephine, a theatrical production by artist Rana Hamadeh accompanying the exhibition currently on view.

A living, constantly changing soundscape.

The Ten Murders of Josephine is an Opera project by artist Rana Hamadeh structured through several evolving iterations. Preceded by a study group, the exhibition at Wittte de With Center for Contemporary Art will be followed by a theatrical production at Theater Rotterdam, and a film.

The production is being compiled and rehearsed inside the exhibition space, from which it takes its cue. Loosely based on Kafka’s mouse songstress Josephine, it sets out to engender new modalities of readership and spectatorship. The exhibition, as with the theatrical production, can be regarded as a living, constantly changing soundscape, in which the limits of performance, spectacle and experience are tested.
