Immerse yourself in the world of writer and artist Douglas Coupland. During this exclusive print and designworkshop created by Douglas Coupland, you will design your own slogan posters and print them on a high-speed large-format Ricoh printer. While sipping a professionally shaken cocktail, you will explore the possibilities of one of the most popular typefaces of the previous century: the Helvetica font. Inspired by Coupland’s series Slogans for the 21st Century, in which he shares statements like “I miss my pre-internet brain” and “The future loves you but it doesn’t need you”, you will design your own slogan posters, using Helvetica exclusively. The results will be show-cased during the Festival Kunst in het Witte de Withkwartier.

Cocktails & Helvetica takes place in the framework of Futurosity, a year-long manifestation in which Kunstblock and Douglas Coupland together explore the idea of ‘the future’ through a variety of projects, exhibitions, workshops and events. The solo exhibition Bit Rot by Douglas Coupland is on view at Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art from 11 September 2015 to 3 January 2016.
