From the depiction of a vulva in a cave painting to the newest internet porno, technology and sexuality have always been closely linked. History indicates that sex will continue to play an essential role in technological development. The porno effect accompanies every new technological development. Is it going too far to assume that research in nanotechnology and genetic engineering will be influenced by our sexual needs? The surgical modification of sexual organs is no longer very unusual. The question is not whether these technologies alter humanity, but how they do so.

The team of Code Magazine presents its new issue which explores the theme of flesh through a corpus of emerging artistic practices.

Code magazine is a bi-annual journal dedicated to the emerging international and Belgian art scene and published by a Brussels-based collective of curators. 5000 copies are widely distributed in Belgium, France, Luxembourg and Switzerland.
For the launching of the new edition of Code at Witte de With, the team will introduce their project. They will be accompanied by three of the contributors to the new edition: Anne-Claire Schmitz, Koen Claerhoet and Stijn Maes. This will be followed by drinks at De Schouw, Witte de Withstraat 80.
