Artist Gabriel Lester joins the Supervisory Board of Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art, effective September 2016, for a term of 6 years. Ever since Witte de With’s inception in 1990, artists have held an important place on the Board, alongside other cultural professionals. They include Wim Gijzen, Willem Oorebeek, Liesbeth Bik, Willem de Rooij, Nicoline van Harskamp, Ellen Gallagher, and Katarina Zdjelar.

Director of Witte de With Defne Ayas announced the appointment and added: "With Rotterdam-based artist Katarina Zdjelar, who joined us last year, and now with Gabriel Lester's appointment, we are confident that the critical voice of artists is very much present in our supervisory board and in the safeguarding of the present and future of our institution."
